Elizabeth Starr Masoudnia

Elizabeth Starr Masoudnia has played solo English horn with the Philadelphia Orchestra since 1995 and is also an active English horn soloist and chamber musician.

A strong advocate of new music for her instrument, she has played the world premiere of the Nicholas Maw English horn concerto with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the world premiere of David Ludwig’s Piccola Notturna for English horn, harp and strings on the Philadelphia Orchestra chamber music series, as well as premiering 2 pieces of English horn chamber music by Joseph Hallman.

She is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, participated in the Marlboro Music Festival and is a featured artist on a CD of Beethoven and Triebensee oboe trios, on the ASV Quicksilver label. She has played Lorée English horns throughout her career.
