Eduardo Martínez is Principal Oboe in the “Orquesta Ciudad de Granada” and oboe teacher in the “Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya”.
Born in Godella (Valencia, Spain), he studied music at the conservatories of Valencia, Rotterdam and the Musikhochschule Freiburg im Breisgau, where he studied with the oboists Thomas Indermühle and Heinz Holliger.
He develops an intense orchestral activity with different groups and since 1991 he is oboe soloist in the « Orquesta Ciudad de Granada ». He has also been principal oboe in the « Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias » and resident member of the “Klangforum Wien”.
In addition to his work as an orchestra musician, he has been and is a member of numerous chamber music groups, encompassing a wide chamber and soloist repertoire, from baroque to avant-garde music. As an oboe soloist he has
performed on numerous occasions with numerous orchestras and in festivals, such as the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Klangforum Wien, National Orchestra of Colombia, National Symphony Orchestra of Peru, « Festival der Avantgarde Essen », « Darmstädter Ferienkurse für Neue Musik « , » Festival of Music and Dance of Granada « , »Festival of Segovia », « Festival de Música Contemporánea de Lima », »Music Home Festival XingHai Conservatory of Music », and with conductors such as Josep Pons, Peter Rundel, Kees Bakels , Xavier Puig and Alfredo Rugeles among
others.
He has recorded the concert for oboe and orchestra by Joan Manén for the label LA MÀ DE GUIDO. With the record label VERSO he recorded with the pianist Riccardo Cecchetti sonatas by W. A. Mozart and romantic music for oboe and piano. He has also recorded with the Ensemble Matisse for ARSIS.
His great pedagogical dedication has led him to teach courses and masterclasses in Spain and in different countries of the European Community, South America and in China. From 1997 to 2008, he was an oboe teacher in the “Cursos de Especialización Musical de la Universidad de Alcalá de Henares ». Currently and since 2001 he is an oboe teacher at the « Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya ».
