Erin Hannigan

Oboist Erin Hannigan is Principal Oboe of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Before coming to Dallas, she was a member of the Rochester Philharmonic from 1994-2001. Summer performances have included those with the Music in the Mountains Festival in Durango, CO and the Mainly Mozart Festival in San Diego, CA. Orchestral performances outside Dallas include engagements as guest principal oboist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Erin has performed as a soloist with the Dallas Symphony, Shreveport Symphony, the Hershey (PA) Symphony, the Music in the Mountains Festival Orchestra, and the Meadows Symphony Orchestra of Southern Methodist University.

Erin has been a member of the Southern Methodist University faculty since 2002 where she is Adjunct Associate Professor of Oboe. Erin was previously a faculty member at the Eastman School of Music as Instructor of Baroque oboe from 1996 – 2001. She is on the faculty of the Festival Institute at Round Top and gives annual masterclasses for the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge, CO.

Erin has three CDs on the Crystal Records label. A two-volume set containing “Zelenka: Six Chamber Sonatas” was released in October, 2012 (CD 821 and 822), following her first solo CD “From Hafiz to Firewing (and Beyond)” which was released in June, 2008 (CD 820).

Erin attended the Oberlin Conservatory where she studied with James Caldwell. She received her Master’s degree and the prestigious Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music where she was a student of Richard Killmer.
