Yue Cheng

Coming from a family of musicians, oboist Yue Cheng has distinguished himself as one of the world’s most outstanding musicians.

A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (Bachelor degree), and the Hartt School of Music (Master degree), Mr. Cheng has studied with Leonhard Seifert, Richard D. Blair, and Humbert Lucarelli. A musician with international experience, Mr. Cheng has performed extensively in Europe, the United States, China, Japan and South America.

As a soloist, Mr. Cheng has performed with the Czechoslovakia Radio Symphony, the Emerson String Quartet, the Shanghai Chamber Orchestra and the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra. Before returning to his hometown – Shanghai, he had been a member of the Sao Paulo State Orchestra and the Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra.

Currently, Mr. Cheng is the principal oboe of the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra.
