Trevor Mowry

Trevor Mowry has received acclaim for his “lovely and plaintive” playing (Charleston Gazette) in his many performances across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Since 2012 he has served as Co-Principal Oboe of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band. Trevor has appeared as a guest artist with the National Symphony Orchestra, Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, Richmond Symphony Orchestra and New World Symphony, and as guest principal oboe with Houston Grand Opera. He has also appeared as a guest artist with Washington, DC-based wind quintet District 5. In 2011 he completed his Bachelor of Music degree at the Eastman School of Music, graduating with a Performer’s Certificate for outstanding performing ability. He pursued graduate studies at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music until his appointment to “The President’s Own”. He works with young musicians from elementary to collegiate levels in private lessons and master classes, and serves as the Winds Coach for the American Youth Philharmonic. He has performed in summer festival orchestras and chamber music ensembles at the invitation of the National Repertory Orchestra, Banff Centre, and Chautauqua Institution. In May of 2015 he collaborated with American composer and pianist of Glee fame, Brad Ellis, for the world premiere of McGuffy’s Reed, which was written for Trevor to perform with the University of Maryland Baltimore County Wind Ensemble. He has also appeared as a featured soloist with “The President’s Own” Marine Chamber Orchestra, Eastman School Symphony Orchestra, Wheaton Municipal Band, DuPage Symphony, and American Youth Symphony Orchestra. Trevor’s primary teachers are Richard Killmer, Robert Atherholt, and Deb Stevenson.
