Aybegum Sekercioglu

Born in Turkey in 1981, she was accepted to the oboe class of Yasar Acar at Istanbul University State Conservatory when she was 11. She has performed in the young soloist series of the 26th, 27th , and  28th International Istanbul Music Festivals. She was awarded the 2nd prize and the best Turkish composition player prize with the Istanbul Wind Quartet. In 2001, she won the first prize reward at the Edirne Chamber Music Competition. She has participated in the Beethoven Festival in Bonn with The Orquestra of Istanbul University State Conservatory in 2002.

In 2002, she was accepted to the class of Hansjörg Schellenberger at Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia with a full scholarship and studied there for three years. She also studied under assistant professor Victor M. Anchel. She has participated in Gordon Hunt’s, Ingo Goritzki’s, Dominik Wollenweber’s, Douglas Boyd’s and Maurice Bourgue’s masterclasses. She has played under Joseph Wolfe, Hansjörg Schellenberger, Sir Colin Daves, Helmuth Rilling, Juanjo Mena, Jose Luis Garcia Asencio, Peter Tilling, Gurer Aykal and Sascha Goetzel.

In 2008, she graduated from the Istanbul University with Master Degree and continues her studies at Doctoral Degree. She has participated to the Salzburg Festival with the Borusan Istanbul Philarmonic Orchestra in 2010. She has given many solo and chamber music concerts at the Austrian, Italian and Goethe institutes. In 2012, she gave a recital at the International Double Reed Society in Ohio-USA.

She was a member of the Borusan Istanbul Philarmonic Orchestra between 1999-2014  and played solo oboe under maestro Sascha Goetzel from 2008-2014.

She is a member of  Istanbul State Modern Folk Music Ensemble since 2006.
